The BlueMax is the Latest Ace in Edutainment

The Adventure Science Center in Nashville, Tennessee is on a mission: to inspire children and facilitate the learning of science. Crowning a “reinvention” that seeks to capture the imagination, fuel future scientists and dynamically assist teachers is the installation of a MaxFlight FS2000 two-seat flight simulator, under the dashing name BlueMax. The educational environment is now a full-sensory immersion into the ups and downs, spins and spirals of flight, aboard a totally rider-controlled flight simulator capable of 360-degree motion in two different directions at once. Adventure Science Center wants to bring science to life, and BlueMax gives visitors a sky’s-the-limit experience. BlueMax is presented by Middle Tennessee State University and the Aerospace Department at MTSU.

“BlueMax has been extremely well received,’ say Amy E. Vineyard, Director of Marketing for Adventure Science Center. “To most, it is more than just a fun ride or a pumped up video game; it’s an opportunity to experience flight, to test the controls, to discover what does what in the cockpit. Our student and adult visitors can do what a real pilot does.” Everything from incomparably creative exhibiting to comprehensive teacher training to worldwide teleconferencing proves that the Adventure Science Center seeks to be hands-on and minds-on. With the BlueMax you can add senses-on.

The MaxFlight FS2000 utilizes a forward-of-the-axis technology that lets riders pilot through complete spins and loops and at the same time if they so choose. Authentic controls recreate the handling and movements of genuine flight. A huge 58” cockpit screen shows every maneuver in the finest graphics available. MaxFlight, a New Jersey- based corporation, manufactures a complete line of state-of-the-art simulators, including Monster Truck, Roller Coaster, Bob Sled and Flight Simulators.

The concept of “edutainment” is fully realized when guests learn what the real feel of a high performance aircraft is like. “The goal of BlueMax and the educational programming associated with it,” says Vineyard, “is to generate an interest in aerospace, aviation and even invention by giving our customers a taste of the experience.”

Customers are gobbling up that taste, especially since the teaching tool has the dynamism of a thrill ride and the unique full-action motion of a MaxFlight.
