VR2002 Troubleshooting Solutions

A significant number of problems and solutions are covered by MaxFlight Support personnel. Call for support of you are experiencing a problem. We will soon be providing a searchable database of these issues online. In the meantime, we will be providing information here as a convenience as new problems and solutions are discovered.

When the VR2002 program is running (after Control/Start when the user interface is displayed) mouse movement across the screen stutters, however mouse movement appears normal when the program is not running.

On systems without a DAS08 adapter installed (no 37-pin connector visible from the rear of the computer), check that the DAS08 I/O Adapter support is disabled on the I/O Adapters setting page. If enabled, close and restart the program after disabling it for the new setting to take effect.

Ensure that a jumper is in place on the MC3628 Motion Control Adapter in the position for the 3rd axis control IC which is normally not present. This jumper prevents excessive interrupts from being generated and causing a system performance problem.

If the system contains a SCSI Hard Drive for video, ensure that Adaptec EZ-SCSI is installed on the system. There will be an entry in the Start/Programs menu for Adaptec EZ-SCSI if this software is installed. Also check that UltraSCSI support is enabled on the SCSI Adapter (this is checked from the Ctrl-A option when the computer is booted). The SCSI Hard Drive should be assigned an address in the upper 8 addresses (#9 through #15, and should indicated support for up to 40MB/second transfers.

If the system contains an UltraDMA EIDE Hard Drive for video, ensure that a compatible UltraDMA Bus Mastering ATAPI driver is installed. This can be checked with the Microsoft DMACHECK.EXE utility from Service Pack 3 or higher, or on certain systems by checking that a "PIIXIDE" driver is handling the EIDE subsystem (Control Panel/SCSI Adapters) rather than the system default ATAPI driver. A final check would be to verify that the disk transfer performance benchmarks higher than 7MB/second and does not indicated a system performance load higher than 5% to 10% using the BM_DISK.EXE utility from the VR2002 Program CD Drivers and Utilities distribution.
